Job Description

Position Summary:

The Community-Based Specialist utilizes the Homebuilders Model to provide families with a wide array of services to equip and supply family members with the necessary tools to successfully prevent out-of-home placement or reunification services. Utilizing training and supervision guidance, implement an evidence-based model.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach by direct methods, generally including the following components: presentation of the skill, modeling, role-play, constructive feedback, coaching, praising, and encouraging.
  • Develop an understanding of systems that serve families, including the legal, social services, healthcare, and school systems.
  • Consult and advocate with other service providers when appropriate to help family members meet their goals.
  • Work with children, youth, and families as a partner toward successful accomplishment of goals developed by the family to move them toward their version of success.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related human service field.
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related human service field with at least 2 years of direct social service experience.
  • A belief system and engagement in faith practices compatible with those of the United Methodist Church.
  • Ability to pass standard background checks, including a drug screen, employment physical, SLED, DSS Central Registry, and Sex Offenders Registry.
  • Ability to maintain a clean driving record.
  • Bilingual preferred.
