Role Summary:

The Community Support Specialist employs the Homebuilders Model to deliver a diverse set of services aimed at equipping family members with essential tools to effectively avert out-of-home placements or facilitate reunification. This role involves utilizing training and supervision to apply an evidence-based framework.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Directly teaching skills through various methods such as skill presentation, modeling, role-playing, constructive feedback, coaching, and encouragement.
  • Gaining insight into the systems that support families, including legal, social services, healthcare, and educational frameworks.
  • Consulting and advocating with other service providers to assist family members in achieving their objectives.

Engagement with children, youth, and families is paramount, working collaboratively towards the successful realization of goals defined by the family, guiding them towards their personal vision of success.

Qualifications:

A Master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage and family therapy, or a related human services discipline is required.

A Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of 2 years of direct experience in social services, is also acceptable.

Applicants should possess a belief system and engage in faith practices that align with the values of the United Methodist Church.

Successful candidates must pass standard background checks, including drug screening, employment physicals, and registry checks.

A clean driving record is essential, and bilingual candidates are preferred.
