Position Overview

The Licking County Alcoholism Prevention Program is in search of a dedicated Intensive Outpatient Program Counselor. This role is pivotal in crafting and executing tailored treatment strategies for individuals grappling with mental health challenges, emotional distress, or substance use disorders, including issues related to alcohol, tobacco, gambling, and other drugs.


Our organization has pioneered numerous innovative initiatives within the community, such as the Step One Program at the Licking County Justice Center and the Options 72 Hour Driver Intervention Program. We also offer specialized programs for women, youth treatment, and employee assistance programs, among others.

The Licking County Alcoholism Prevention Program is also a participant in the Federal Loan Forgiveness Program.

As an IOP Counselor, your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting thorough individual assessments to identify clients' specific needs and goals related to recovery.
  • Providing one-on-one counseling sessions tailored to address unique challenges such as substance use, unemployment, or trauma.
  • Facilitating group therapy sessions utilizing evidence-based practices for clients with moderate to severe substance use disorders.
  • Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure integrated care and support for clients.
  • Monitoring and documenting client progress towards treatment objectives, adjusting strategies as necessary based on their evolving needs.
  • Staying informed on the latest developments in counseling through professional literature and training opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of LCDC II or LSW certification with at least two years of counseling experience. A Bachelor's or Master's degree with relevant licensure is preferred.
  • Licensure to practice in Ohio, meeting all requirements set forth by the accrediting board.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of treatment methodologies for mental health and substance use disorders.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach, dedicated to overcoming behavioral health barriers.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and occasionally stressful environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with electronic health record systems.
  • Resourcefulness and collaborative spirit when addressing challenges.
