Join Our Team as a Heavy Equipment Technician

As a vital member of our organization, the Heavy Equipment Technician will be tasked with the diagnosis, repair, and upkeep of our fleet's heavy machinery, including tractors, trailers, and auxiliary equipment. This role is essential in ensuring that all operations comply with state and federal regulations governing the transportation industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and repair diesel machinery, including but not limited to tractors, trailers, and refrigeration units.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance in accordance with company standards.
  • Document all repair activities and maintain accurate records of parts and services performed.
  • Respond to road service calls and provide assistance as necessary.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all safety regulations.
  • Manage inventory and ensure proper recordkeeping.
  • Support fellow maintenance staff as needed.
  • Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and pursue further certifications.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of three years of hands-on experience as a heavy-duty diesel mechanic or reefer technician, or two years with relevant certifications.
  • Proficient in diagnostic and troubleshooting techniques for equipment repairs.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience in implementing a preventative maintenance program.
  • Must possess personal hand tools.
  • CDL A and DOT certification preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of EPA and OSHA regulations related to fleet maintenance.
  • Ability to interpret technical manuals and service documentation.
  • Strong communication skills, fostering teamwork and collaboration.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks in a dynamic environment with minimal supervision.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights and weekends, as required.
  • Willingness to work overtime when necessary.

Compensation and Benefits:

The compensation for this position is competitive and commensurate with experience. This role is also eligible for overtime pay. Benefits include health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and life insurance.
