We are looking for a dedicated individual to take on the role of a part-time Event Operations Supervisor during various occasions. This position, reporting to the Guest Experience Manager, involves a rotating schedule alongside other part-time supervisors to oversee a range of events across the six performance venues managed by the Emerson College Office of the Arts. The role requires availability during evenings and weekends, with a call time set two hours before events commence and varying hours based on the event calendar.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Support full-time personnel in fulfilling client expectations and objectives before, during, and after events.
  • Train, inspire, oversee, and manage front-of-house staff, including Head Ushers, Lobby Ushers, Bartenders, and House Ushers.
  • Ensure the safety and comfort of all attendees by leading usher staff: guaranteeing guest safety, providing knowledgeable assistance, and ensuring guests feel valued and well attended to.
  • Coordinate usher staff to effectively implement emergency evacuation procedures.
  • Assist concession vendors in creating a profitable and suitable retail atmosphere.
  • Act as a representative of management during merchandise inventory and cash settlement processes.
  • Provide assistance to guests with specific requirements.
  • Monitor patrons and staff to maintain safety and security.
  • Fulfill duties as a House Usher, Lobby Usher, and Head Usher as scheduled.

Your Qualifications and Experience:

  • A minimum of five years in customer service roles.
  • At least three years of prior experience in event management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities are essential.
  • Capability to handle challenging public interactions with confidence and professionalism.
  • A collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite applications, including Docs, Sheets, and Gmail.
  • Experience with cash handling and point-of-sale systems is advantageous.

Work Environment:

Work will be conducted in a theatre setting, requiring the ability to stand or sit for extended periods and to move or lift objects weighing up to 20 pounds.

This position offers a competitive hourly wage.
