Position Overview: The Assistant/Associate Professor in the Physician Assistant Program plays a vital role in the educational framework, contributing to both didactic and clinical instruction. This role involves a comprehensive analysis of student performance and overall program effectiveness, reporting directly to the Program Director.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate course structure, sequence, and content for relevance and appropriateness.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to schedule and coordinate didactic and clinical courses, ensuring optimal distribution of lecture hours.
  • Prepare and review assessments, working closely with faculty on test development and analysis.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of the curriculum and student outcomes, presenting findings at committee meetings.
  • Analyze student feedback regarding courses and faculty, facilitating discussions at committee meetings.
  • Participate in clinical site evaluations as assigned.
  • Engage in program committee meetings, campus events, and PA program activities.
  • Lead committee initiatives, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and outcome reporting.
  • Act as a faculty leader for community service-learning events as required.
  • Represent the PA Program and the University at professional conferences.
  • Engage in educational research within the PA field, aiming for presentations at local, regional, and national levels.
  • Coordinate and deliver content for both Clinical and Didactic Phases of the PA Program.
  • Participate actively in the design, implementation, and evaluation of the curriculum, including syllabus preparation.
  • Monitor and assess student performance and progress throughout the program.
  • Involve in the admissions process for prospective PA students.
  • Support students through remediation processes, ensuring access to necessary instructional resources.
  • Serve as an advisor to PA students, providing guidance and intervention as needed.
  • Contribute to the development and revision of the program's mission, goals, and learning outcomes.
  • Assist in the self-study and evaluation processes for program accreditation.
  • Fulfill teaching responsibilities as outlined in the faculty contract.
  • Commit to ongoing professional development and lifelong learning.
  • Model the professional role of a Physician Assistant for students and colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical and/or teaching experience; 5 years preferred.
  • Graduate of an ARC-PA accredited PA Program, with a Master's degree (MS, MPA, MPH) or Doctoral degree preferred.
  • Current NCCPA Certification and eligibility for New Jersey State License.
  • Familiarity with the PA program accreditation process and experiential education.
  • Proven excellence in teaching, scholarship, and service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for building partnerships within and outside the program.
  • Employment contingent upon a satisfactory background check.
