This position involves overseeing operations related to satellite communications systems, specifically focusing on the SBX program.
Job Overview:
The SBX initiative is responsible for the operation and maintenance of a sophisticated radar system situated on a specially modified vessel, designed to withstand extreme weather conditions while supporting the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS).
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervising hardware functionality and satellite connectivity.
- Conducting proactive surveillance of network alarms and alerts to pinpoint components that may lead to network issues.
- Utilizing network management systems for continuous monitoring on a rotating shift basis.
- Collaborating with functional users and remote operations centers during both routine and urgent monitoring scenarios.
- Executing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Assisting with both on-board and shore-side engineering evaluations.
- Documenting failures, service degradation, and maintenance that affects operational readiness and mission support.
- Updating rack diagrams and topologies as necessary due to equipment upgrades or technology advancements.
- Monitoring shelter conditions for In-Flight Data Telecommunications (IDT), including housekeeping and corrosion assessments.
- Providing oversight, reporting, and troubleshooting for communication nodes and networks.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in an operational setting supporting military missions.
- Possession of an active SECRET clearance.
- Prior experience with AN/USC-69 SATCOM antennas or comparable satellite communication systems.
- Experience in modifying and updating technical drawings.
- Ability to manage schedules in a complex operational landscape involving multiple entities.
- Strong written communication, interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Proven ability to prioritize effectively and work independently or as part of a team.
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capabilities.
- Experience in maritime operations.
- A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred.
- Experience in remote work environments for extended durations.
