Position Overview

Dudek is currently looking for a full-time Intermediate Biological Scientist to join our biological resources team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in leading and supporting the preparation of technical documents, resource agency permitting, and biological field data collection related to botanical, wildlife, and aquatic resources.

Project work may take place throughout California, requiring potential overnight and out-of-region travel.

This role involves both office and fieldwork and may be based out of various locations.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare technical reports summarizing methodologies, field survey results, and recommendations.
- Develop written documentation to support environmental permit applications and biological evaluations.
- Assist with resource agency permitting processes.
- Prepare scopes of work and cost estimates for biological resource projects.
- Lead and coordinate field teams.
- Identify California flora to species and subspecies.
- Conduct field surveys for rare, threatened, and endangered species.
- Perform vegetation surveys, invasive plant assessments, and habitat evaluations.
- Support wildlife survey initiatives.
- Conduct jurisdictional delineations and organize field surveys.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in biology, ecology, botany, environmental science, or a related field.
- Experience with biological resource impact analyses and mitigation planning.
- Familiarity with regulatory permitting processes in California.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
- Willingness to travel for work, including overnight stays.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework or degree focused on wildlife, botany, or conservation.
- Experience in preparing biological documentation and coordinating with resource agencies.
- Permitted biologist with experience surveying special-status species in California.
- Knowledge of California wetland types and systems.

Working Conditions:
This position operates in both remote and office environments, utilizing standard office equipment. Occasional site visits may involve outdoor work under various conditions.

Physical Requirements:
The role requires working on a computer for extended periods, attending meetings, and engaging in outdoor activities that may involve uneven terrain and extreme weather.
