Job Title: IT Systems Specialist

Job Summary:

The IT Systems Specialist will provide technical support and maintenance for all national and local court computer systems and applications. This includes server configuration, group policy administration, and user account administration. The successful candidate will join a small, highly motivated team of IT professionals and will be responsible for managing backups, disaster recovery, and solving connectivity issues across all network systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides in-person and remote technical assistance to all Minnesota Bankruptcy Court judges and clerks office staff.
  • Manages backups, disaster recovery, and solves connectivity issues across all network systems.
  • Administers user accounts, permissions, and policies applied via Active Directory.
  • Performs systems administration tasks, including server configuration, group policy administration, and user account administration.
  • Participates in the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of data backup and recovery procedures and practices.
  • Triages and resolves server failures, including identifying root causes, recommending remediations, and establishing future preventative measures.
  • Performs systems management functions to deploy agents, scripts, patching, and operating system images for endpoints.
  • Assists with automated management systems for development and deployment of system images.
  • Develops and maintains current and working standardized images.
  • Assists with technical support and maintenance of telephone systems, courtroom technology, mobile technology, and audio/visual systems.
  • Prepares written procedures for users and IT staff. Provides training on the use and support of computer systems and programs.
  • Creates and maintains systems documentation.

Requirements:

  • Two years of specialized experience, including at least one year of work that includes providing computer and systems support, server and computer setup, computer systems configuration, patching, and troubleshooting, or network support, network systems monitoring, backup, and recovery.
  • Strong troubleshooting abilities and customer service skills are mandatory.
  • Travel between divisional offices is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Significant operational and technical experience relative to the installation, configuration, and support of Windows Server operating systems (extensive experience with Windows Server 2016 and above preferred), Microsoft Active Directory (including administration of users, file servers, group policies, DNS, and DHCP services), and Windows 10/11 desktop operating systems.
  • Enterprise administration/management and deployment utilities (such as PowerShell and VB Scripting).
  • VMware vCenter/ESXi virtualization.
  • Experience implementing and supporting networking hardware, topologies, and protocols including Cisco iOS.
  • Experience implementing and supporting physical server hardware, storage area networks, and data backup devices and supporting software.
  • Experience with audio and video equipment and technologies is also desired.
