Title: Manufacturing Engineer

Compensation: $95,000 to $105,000 plus benefits, commensurate with experience

Location: Southwest of Boston

Position Overview:

We are in search of a proactive and skilled manufacturing engineer to become an integral part of our team. This role requires a technical expert in production equipment, focusing on the integration of new technologies and continuous improvement initiatives. The selected candidate will engage directly in production environments, dedicating a significant portion of their time to hands-on activities. Travel will be limited to project-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting and Support: Investigate equipment and technology solutions while contributing to technology roadmaps. Oversee the implementation of new technologies and automation projects. Lead new equipment initiatives, including capital requests, user requirements, floor layouts, and project planning. Manage equipment installation, qualification, and production start-up processes. Collaborate with various teams to optimize machine performance and resolve operational issues. Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment efficiency and output.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Facilitate continuous improvement efforts to standardize equipment performance. Establish monitoring needs for critical equipment functionality to ensure compliance with customer requirements. Design fixtures and develop quick changeover solutions. Work alongside process engineers to optimize value stream layouts. Provide technical training to operators and engineering staff as required. Develop key process metrics and utilize MRP systems as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably within the medical device or highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with GMPs and ISO 13485 system requirements is preferred, along with knowledge of equipment qualification tools.
  • Experience with complex electro-mechanical systems, automation applications, and PLC programming is advantageous.
  • Proficient in CAD for developing fixture designs and equipment layouts.
  • Understanding of polymer and metal materials is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and adherence to EHS policies is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and drive technology integration and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies; certifications are a plus.

Education & Certifications:

  • A Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical, electro-mechanical, or chemical engineering is preferred.
