Role Overview:

We are in search of a dedicated and skilled Manufacturing Engineer to become a vital part of our dynamic team. This individual will serve as the technical authority for production equipment, spearheading projects related to new technology integration and continuous improvement initiatives. The role requires spending a significant portion of time in production settings, with limited travel for project-related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting and Support: Conduct research on equipment and technology solutions, contributing to technology roadmaps. Oversee the implementation of new technologies and automation projects. Lead new equipment initiatives, including capital requests, user requirements, floor layouts, and project plans. Manage the installation and qualification of equipment, ensuring a smooth production start-up. Collaborate with maintenance teams to establish preventive maintenance schedules and spare parts lists. Work closely with production supervisors and engineers to address machine performance and resolve issues. Drive continuous improvement projects to enhance equipment efficiency and output. Support Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives as needed.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Implement continuous improvement strategies to standardize equipment functionality and output. Define performance monitoring requirements to ensure product quality meets or exceeds customer expectations. Design fixtures and develop quick changeover solutions. Collaborate with process engineers on value stream mapping and layout optimization. Provide technical training to operators and technicians, fostering a knowledgeable workforce. Develop key performance metrics and utilize an MRP system as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience in manufacturing engineering, preferably within the medical device or other highly regulated industries.
  • Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and ISO 13485 standards is preferred, along with knowledge of equipment qualification processes.
  • Experience with complex electro-mechanical systems, automation applications, and PLC programming is advantageous.
  • Proficient in CAD software for fixture design and equipment layout development.
  • Understanding of polymer and metal materials is a plus.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and commitment to EHS policies is essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and drive technology integration and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Practical experience with Lean and Six Sigma methodologies; certifications are a plus.

Education & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in mechanical, electro-mechanical, or chemical engineering is preferred.
