The Semiconductor Test Group (STG) is renowned for its expertise in RF Power Amplifier and Front-End Module Testing, boasting over forty years of experience in semiconductor testing solutions. They specialize in designing and manufacturing scalable automated test equipment (ATE) to evaluate the industry's leading integrated circuits, facilitating customer technology advancements through innovative approaches.

As an RF Communications Engineer within the RF Modulation Library Engineering team, you will play a crucial role in developing state-of-the-art wireless measurement solutions. Working collaboratively in cross-functional project teams, your focus will be on creating ATE Signal Processing software for testing high-volume wireless semiconductor devices. This position encompasses the entire product development lifecycle, from conception to supporting advancements in wireless standards and measurements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead development efforts in C++ within a Linux environment.
  • Design and implement digital signal processing algorithms for RF waveform creation and analysis.
  • Develop DSP algorithms for assessing wireless communication standards such as Wi-Fi, LTE, 5G, and IoT protocols.
  • Integrate DSP algorithms into Cohu's Modulation library for deployment in proprietary operational settings.
  • Conduct performance analysis and optimization of DSP algorithms on FPGAs and other DSP integrated circuits.
  • Create and maintain RF waveform software tools for design and measurement purposes.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to Applications Engineers and Software Engineers in crafting diagnostic C++ programs for Wireless Communication Standards.
  • Perform root cause analysis, debugging, and problem resolution for clients utilizing our Wireless Communication Libraries.
  • Stay informed on the latest advancements in digital signal processing and wireless communication technologies.
  • Collaborate with the software team to resolve process challenges and mentor junior software engineers.

Education and Experience/Skills Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline with software experience (Master's or Doctorate preferred).
  • 5-15 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Proficient in C++ and Object-Oriented Programming.
  • Strong grasp of digital signal processing fundamentals, algorithms, and their implementations.
  • Analytical and problem-solving capabilities for debugging intricate RF communication systems.
  • Familiarity with wireless communication protocols such as 5G, LTE, Zigbee, and Bluetooth.
  • Experience in developing calibration algorithms and real-time processing strategies.
  • Prior experience in RF waveform design and optimization is highly advantageous.
  • Knowledge of Analog, Digital, and RF circuit design is beneficial.
  • Experience with implementing Signal Processing Algorithms in FPGAs is a plus.
  • Experience with radio frequency devices/systems and LINUX workstations is advantageous.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
