Position Overview

At NorthBay Health, the Safety and Security Specialist plays a crucial role in fostering a secure healthcare environment. This position is focused on deterring violent behavior and criminal activities through a visible presence and the capability to respond effectively to incidents that may pose significant threats to individuals. The primary assignment is within the Emergency Department and its surrounding areas, with responsibilities extending to all medical facilities managed by NorthBay HealthCare. Individual duties may vary based on operational needs and directives from the Security Program Director. The Safety and Security Specialist is also responsible for documenting responses to service calls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe atmosphere for patients, visitors, and staff members.
  • Identify and address security-related issues; act as a first responder to safety hazards and coordinate with law enforcement when necessary.
  • While primarily stationed in the Emergency Department, responsibilities may extend to all facilities operated by NorthBay HealthCare based on situational demands.
  • Must operate independently and exercise sound judgment in emergency situations.
  • Prepare detailed reports that accurately reflect the facts of incidents, ensuring clarity and correctness.
  • Conduct interviews with individuals expressing concerns and direct them to appropriate resources.
  • Provide information and assistance to public inquiries.
  • Utilize computer systems for data entry and retrieval.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
Experience:
  • Prior experience in security, military, or law enforcement is highly preferred.
Licensure:
  • Valid motor vehicle license and the ability to operate vehicles as part of job duties.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record, verified annually.
  • California Concealed Weapons Permit required upon hire.
  • California Guard Card and Exposed Carry Permit are mandatory.
  • Completion of all necessary firearms qualification training as per California regulations is required upon hire.

  • Proficient in using PC computers and relevant software applications.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Hourly Salary Range: $47.30 (based on experience)
  • Per Diem Differential: 10% additional per hour
  • PM Shift Differential: $1.38 additional per hour
  • NOC Shift Differential: $2.21 additional per hour
  • Weekend Differential: $0.75 additional per hour
