Fire Department Deputy Chief of Administration

Under the executive direction of the Fire Chief, the Deputy Chief of Administration will lead, direct, and coordinate all aspects of the administration functions, including the Training Division, Fire Marshal's Office, Budget, ISO, and Technology for the Fire Department. This position exercises considerable autonomy in the management of assigned divisions and responsibilities, guided by goals, objectives, policies, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Supports the Fire Chief in the overall planning, implementation, and direction of the department's strategic plan.
- Ensures that all divisions within the department work together effectively to ensure optimum performance and efficiency in the use of human, physical, and financial resources.
- Directs the daily operation and administration of training, fire prevention, and community risk reduction programs.
- Provides professional direction of the department through Fire Assistant Chiefs, Fire Captains, and Lieutenants.
- Participates in the development and administration of the department's budget.
- Evaluates the proficiency of department personnel and identifies training and development needs.
- Performs executive and administrative duties as a member of the department's executive management team.
- Thorough knowledge of leadership, management, and training practices.
- Thorough knowledge of professional fire and emergency management.
- Advanced knowledge and skill in the application of all firefighting, rescue, EMS, prevention practices, and community risk reduction.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Skill in preparing accurate and concise technical reports.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relations with department and City personnel.
- Skill in responding to citizen inquiries and complaints.
- Ability to maintain physical condition according to department standards.
- Possess a baccalaureate degree, masters preferred, in management, public administration, or a closely related field.
- Meet all Marietta and Georgia Firefighter standards, certifications, and requirements.
- Possess a minimum of seven to ten years of progressively responsible experience as a certified Firefighter/AEMT.
