Overview of the Role

Position Summary

The esteemed Global Research division at Bank of America plays a pivotal role in supporting the institutional sales and trading teams, as well as their clientele. Our research analysts are integral to the value we provide to our investor clients, delivering insightful, objective, and actionable research that empowers informed investment decisions across six key disciplines.

As a Research Analyst Intern, you will engage in financial modeling and analysis, conduct primary research, and contribute to the creation of comprehensive reports. Your responsibilities will vary, encompassing both routine tasks and longer-term, ad hoc projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing historical financial models utilizing SEC filings, corporate conference calls, and press releases.
  • Performing financial, statistical, and industry analyses to bolster the team's investment strategies.
  • Acquiring knowledge of the fundamental aspects of the industries and companies under review, while investigating sector trends that may influence recommendations.
  • Composing concise notes and detailed reports (Primers) on economic conditions, market trends, and industry insights; contributing to daily, weekly, or monthly reports.

Interns will be assigned to a specific industry sector team throughout the internship, participating in collaborative projects and presentations. This structure allows for a comprehensive learning experience, drawing insights not only from your assigned role but also from the diverse experiences of fellow interns. Placement will be based on individual preferences, skill sets, and organizational needs.

Candidate Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program or a direct Master's program at an accredited institution, with an expected graduation timeframe within the designated range.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.5 is preferred.
  • Demonstrated academic proficiency, creative problem-solving abilities, and exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in accounting and quantitative analysis is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to quality in your work.
  • Client-focused mindset with a commitment to exceeding internal client expectations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • A genuine interest in the U.S. capital markets, with the capability to learn and utilize various market data sources.
  • Experience in creating and maintaining financial models, particularly in Credit Research.
  • A strong curiosity and enthusiasm for research.
  • Highly driven with a desire to excel.
  • Outgoing personality with a strong presence.
  • Sound judgment and business acumen.
