Position Overview:
The Global Research Program Administrator plays a pivotal role in providing organizational and programmatic support for an expansive research initiative within the Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI). This position involves administrative coordination for a multi-national research capacity enhancement program in East Africa, which includes:
- Facilitating regular multi-site video conferences.
- Developing operational protocols and manuals.
- Assisting with ethics submissions and maintaining essential study documentation.
- Guiding project leaders and managers in crafting job descriptions across various sites.
- Monitoring progress towards defined objectives.
Additionally, the Administrator is responsible for:
- Compiling materials for new subcontracts and amendments.
- Overseeing invoicing processes.
- Contributing to progress reports.
- Coordinating international research committees.
- Planning the annual in-person gathering of researchers.
Moreover, the Global Research Program Administrator supports investigators and program managers in the development of new grant proposals. This includes:
- Liaising with pre-award teams.
- Preparing financial plans and justifications.
- Managing submission timelines.
- Preparing necessary IRB and administrative documentation for grant applications.
This role is situated in a mission-oriented environment and requires adeptness in managing multiple priorities. The Administrator may also be called upon to assist with studies in other global regions, including Latin America, as required. International travel to East Africa is anticipated.
Salary Information: The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Salary placement is influenced by various factors, including work experience and internal equity within this position classification.

About the Global Brain Health Institute:
The Global Brain Health Institute (GBHI) was founded in 2015 with co-founding sites at the University of California, San Francisco (USA) and Trinity College Dublin (Ireland). GBHI aims to mitigate the impact of dementia by training and empowering a new generation of leaders in brain health.
Mission of the Memory and Aging Center:
The Memory and Aging Center (MAC) is dedicated to delivering exceptional care for individuals with cognitive challenges, conducting research on neurodegenerative diseases, and educating health professionals, patients, and their families.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and a minimum of one year of related experience; or equivalent experience/training.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication, active listening, critical thinking, and advisory capabilities.
- Ability to exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Proficient in short-term planning, analytical thinking, problem-solving, and customer service.
- Willingness to engage in international travel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with various administrative functions such as event organization, basic fundraising, website management, and understanding of contracts and grants regulations.
- Solid knowledge of common university-specific software applications.
- Understanding of university policies and procedures related to budgeting, accounting, and personnel management.
