Position Overview - Clinical Informatics EHR Training Specialist

Role Summary

As a vital member of the Clinical Informatics & Learning team, the Clinical Informatics EHR Training Specialist will play a crucial role in the development, implementation, and assessment of Electronic Health Record (EHR) training initiatives. Your proficiency in educational design, training strategies, and healthcare technology will enable our personnel to effectively utilize our EHR systems and associated technologies, ultimately enhancing patient safety, care delivery, and the overall experience for patients, families, and staff.

Qualifications

A Bachelor's Degree in education, healthcare, instructional design, or a related discipline is preferred. Alternatively, relevant experience in educational instruction may be considered in lieu of formal education on a 1:1 basis.

A Master's Degree in education, healthcare, instructional design, or a related field is highly desirable.

Minimum of two years of experience in adult education, instructional design, training delivery, and/or curriculum development, ideally within a healthcare or medical setting.

At least five years of technical or professional experience utilizing EHR systems and/or related software.

Essential Skills and Knowledge

In-depth knowledge of EHR systems and healthcare technology, particularly regarding their integration into clinical workflows.

Expertise in e-learning authoring tools, learning management systems (LMS), and virtual training platforms.

Exceptional presentation and communication abilities.

Strong project management capabilities.

Proven experience in instructional design methodologies and principles of adult learning.

Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-functional teams and establish relationships with stakeholders.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications

CPLP / CPTD, and EHR-specific certifications.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the creation and implementation of comprehensive EHR training programs for both clinical and administrative personnel.

Collaborate with subject matter experts, IT departments, and clinical stakeholders to ensure training relevance and effectiveness.

Apply adult learning principles and instructional design methodologies to craft engaging educational experiences.

Develop interactive training materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led sessions, simulations, job aids, and supplementary resources.

Conduct training through various formats, including individual and small group instruction, classroom sessions, webinars, and both remote and in-person training events.

Tailor educational and training materials to meet the specific needs of clinical roles and workflows.

Assess training requirements and performance gaps, continuously refining training materials based on learner feedback and updates to EHR systems.

Evaluate the success of training programs through feedback, adoption rates, efficiency, and compliance metrics to enhance learning outcomes.

Stay informed about updates and changes to EHR systems, integrating this information into training content and sessions.

Coordinate with other departments to provide cohesive learning experiences for new and onboarding staff.

Mentor and support junior instructors in their professional development.

Perform additional duties as assigned.
