About the Role

SSI ShipConstructor is seeking a dedicated and experienced Systems Administrator to enhance our IT department. This full-time position is crucial for supporting our operational needs and will involve working closely with our IT Manager. The successful candidate will become part of a high-performing team, committed to advancing the technologies and methodologies in the field of information technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist internal employees through our helpdesk portal, diagnosing issues and escalating as necessary.
  • Translate technical concepts for non-technical users.
  • Resolve desktop and printer hardware/software issues to ensure user satisfaction.
  • Install, configure, and test new workstations and software.
  • Troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity issues.
  • Maintain data integrity and backup systems.
  • Utilize security tools to safeguard the network against threats.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential issues before they affect users.
  • Conduct software testing and review application logs.
  • Manage user information updates, including passwords and email addresses.
  • Collaborate with other System Administrators and Architects on project implementation and maintenance.
  • Create and maintain documentation for processes and technical guides.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience as a System Administrator in a Windows environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in supporting Microsoft Windows Server environments.
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and core Windows server services.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Exchange Server and Office 365.
  • Knowledge of server hardware, storage systems, and RAID configurations.
  • Comprehension of networking concepts and protocols (TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, etc.).
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Must be a US citizen or a permanent resident.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and procedures.
  • CompTIA Certification is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in maintaining and troubleshooting LANs, WANs, and computer workstations.
  • Knowledge of network traffic and security monitoring software.
  • Experience with next-generation firewalls and virtualization technologies like VMware.
  • Familiarity with patch management processes.
  • A degree or diploma in computer science or related IT certifications.
  • Microsoft certifications such as MCSA or MCITP.
  • CISCO certifications, including CCNA.
  • Understanding of CMMC standards.
