About This Role

At Mount Nittany Health, we are committed to delivering exceptional patient care and improving the quality and availability of healthcare in our region. We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Customer Service Specialist to join our team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the management of accounts receivable by counseling patients and/or family members on insurance options and payment options.
  • Contact patients with outstanding balances to discuss payment arrangements and ensure timely payment.
  • Review and analyze accounts to determine statement, payment, and collection history.
  • Coordinate with collection agencies to verify balance and account information.
  • Maintain accurate records of payments and necessary insurance transfers.
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in public contact and telephone collection work within a hospital or related field.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in electronic processing, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Medicare, Medical Assistance, commercial, and auto.
  • Working knowledge of collection procedures for Act 6, Workers' Compensation, VA, and Champus.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Formal schooling or working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of PC procedures and hospital collection applications.
  • Knowledge of assigned third-party billing requirements, including Medicare, Medicaid, Blue Cross, commercial, HMO, MVA, OVR, MH/MR, and Workman's Compensation.
