Job Summary

Kleinfelder is seeking a highly skilled Archaeological Field Technician to join our team. As an on-call position, you will work on various projects across the Eastern United States, conducting Phase I archaeological surveys, archaeological reconnaissance, and possible Phase II and Phase III work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct Phase I archaeological surveys and reconnaissance to identify prehistoric and historic-era cultural resources in the field.
  • Participate in cultural resources field projects, including shovel testing, systematic surface walkovers, and conducting cultural surveys.
  • Work independently and as a team to achieve project goals.
  • Identify and document cultural resources, including prehistoric and historic-era sites.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and detailed records of project activities and findings.
  • Collaborate with project team members to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Travel to project areas, with time spent on travel paid and lodging provided.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, Archaeology, or closely related field.
  • Three months of progressive experience participating in cultural resources field projects or participating in an accredited field school.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and attention to detail.
  • Strong writing skills and clarity in notetaking.
  • Experience with MS Office and digital field technology, including GPS, total station, and GIS applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team, with a strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
  • A driver's license and satisfactory driving record required.
