Job Description

The Sales Lead is a key role model for the Bear Builder team, with additional responsibilities as a Leader on Duty on designated shifts. During these times, the Sales Lead will be in charge of the total operation of the store, including leading a team of associates, modeling Experience First behaviors, and enhancing the Guest's experience while achieving the store sales goals.

Responsibilities as Leader on Duty:
  • Lead a Team of Associates: Consistently model the Experience First standards and behaviors, ensuring a positive and motivational work environment.
  • Communicate Clear Expectations: Hold the store team and self accountable for achieving all brand, performance, and behavior standards.
  • Energize Associates: Ensure proper coverage, exceptional Guest service, completion of daily tasks, and adherence to company standards.
  • Delegate Effectively: Assign tasks to associate team members, promoting productivity and ownership.
  • Maintain a Positive Environment: Foster a highly satisfied and loyal customer base through engagement, conversion, and capturing Guest information for the loyalty program.
  • Audit Daily Punches: Ensure accuracy and compliance with BABW payroll and timekeeping policies and procedures.
  • Enforce Security and Cash Management Policies: Adhere to and enforce all BABW store security and cash management policies and procedures.
  • Ensure Store Readiness: Ensure the store is always Grand Opening ready by following opening and closing procedures.
  • Operate and Maintain IT Systems: Use good judgment and partner with the Chief Workshop Manager to make necessary decisions within the company's guidelines.
  • Comply with Company Policies: Insure compliance with all company policies and procedures, as well as federal, state, local, and provincial laws.
  • Communicate Issues: Communicate any Guest service and/or associate issues to the Chief Workshop Manager in a timely fashion and collaborate on resolution of all issues.
Responsibilities as a Bear Builder:
  • Provide a Personalized Experience: Use the Make Behaviors and Experience First station standards to provide a personalized, enjoyable, and memorable experience for Guests of all ages.
  • Invite Guests: Invite potential Guests to come in and learn about the store.
  • Welcome and Greet Guests: Promptly welcome and greet all Guests with a smile.
  • Engage Guests: Engage Guests in conversation through open-ended questions and assess the reason for visit, utilizing this information to help Guests find the perfect product and convert those 'just looking' into a sale.
  • Inform Guests: Inform Guests of all current promotions and point out the newest product.
  • Explain the Build-A-Bear Workshop Process: Explain the Build-A-Bear Workshop process and assist Guests in choosing, stuffing, dressing, naming, and taking home (purchasing) a new furry friend.
  • Contribute to Total Store Results: Contribute to total store results by recommending items to maximize sales and enhance the Guest's experience.
  • Inform Guests about Parties: Inform Guests that the store offers parties for all ages and all occasions.
  • Support Party Commitments: Support the company's party commitments by delivering a great party experience.
  • Aware of Sales Goals and Expectations: Be aware of workshop sales goals, Guest satisfaction expectations, and promotional objectives.
  • Maintain Visual and Housekeeping Standards: Maintain visual and housekeeping standards to create the brand experience unique to Build-A-Bear Workshop.
  • Follow Company Policies: Follow all company policies and procedures, including but not limited to Cash Management, Attendance, and Store Security.
  • Perform Other Tasks: Perform all other tasks as may be assigned by store management.
Qualifications:
  • Ideal Candidate: Ideal candidate is a BABW associate with a minimum of one + years of experience providing exceptional Guest service in the workshop.
  • Availability: Available for a flexible schedule that meets the needs of the business.
  • Education: Minimum of high school diploma or GED equivalent. College degree a plus.
  • Leadership and Selling Skills: Ambitious and success-oriented, with outstanding leadership and selling skills.
  • Personal and Professional Integrity: Models personal and professional integrity.
  • Interpersonal Communications Skills: Excellent interpersonal communications skills, including verbal and written communication.
  • Organization and Planning: Organized and planful, with attention to details.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Flexible and adaptable in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Energy and Appreciation for Children: Fosters a high-energy environment and demonstrates an appreciation for children of all ages.
