Position Title: Lead AV Technician

Location: Raleigh, NC – travel required throughout NC and into SC

  • All travel expenses will be reimbursed.

Compensation: $70,000 - $75,000

Essential Qualifications:

  • 5-7 years of experience in an audio-visual technician role or a related field.
  • In-depth technical knowledge of audio-visual equipment, including but not limited to cameras, projectors, sound systems, lighting, and related accessories.
  • Expertise in operating and troubleshooting a variety of audio-visual technologies and software.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and execute rack elevations, line/block schematics, and floor plans.
  • Physical endurance and capability to lift and transport heavy equipment.
  • Skilled in the physical installation of projection screens, display mounts, ceiling speakers, wired microphones, and equipment racks.
  • Competence in running cables, utilizing hand/power tools, and performing soldering, crimping, and compressing various AV interfaces and connectors.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Excel, Word, Email, and Teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relevant certifications or training in audio-visual technology.
  • Knowledge of brands such as Extron, Shure, NEC, and QSC.
  • Possession of CTS/CTS-I certification or the willingness to obtain it within six months.

Daily Responsibilities:

Insight Global is seeking a Lead AV Technician to oversee the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of intricate audio-visual systems, ensuring top-notch quality and customer satisfaction. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical expertise in AV system integration, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a dedication to providing outstanding service. This role involves travel across most of NC and into SC, with a company vehicle provided.

Key Duties:

  • Lead an installation team effectively.
  • Interpret and follow AV system schematics and blueprints accurately.
  • Pull low voltage cabling through conduits and other designated areas.
  • Terminate connectors for various connections securely.
  • Safely mount equipment such as displays, projectors, cameras, speakers, and microphones.
  • Construct and wire AV equipment racks proficiently.
  • Troubleshoot and test equipment to ensure functionality.
  • Perform programming tasks or demonstrate the ability to learn, including control system programming and GUI design.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the company-issued vehicle.
  • Install, terminate, and test low voltage and fiber optic cables as required.
  • Route cables through conduits, above ceilings, and between floors according to job specifications.
  • Read and comprehend technical schematics, operation manuals, maintenance instructions, and procedures effectively.
  • Assemble and test equipment racks in accordance with the rack build schedule.
  • Ensure all necessary cables, connectors, hardware, and tools for project completion are available.
  • Provide technical support to other AV Technicians as needed.
