Job Overview

Position Summary:

The Product Innovation Coordinator will play a pivotal role in the Research and Development of our Dietary Supplement and Sports Nutrition product lines. This role will manage the product innovation process for new formulations from conception to market introduction, collaborating internally with various departments and externally with suppliers and manufacturers. This position is ideal for individuals seeking to advance their career in product innovation/R&D within the natural products sector or for recent graduates holding a degree in nutritional science, food science, biochemistry, or a related discipline.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the product innovation process for new offerings throughout their lifecycle, encompassing ideation, research, ingredient sourcing, formulation, labeling, and product education.
  • Identify and evaluate new and innovative ingredients; ensure they comply with established specifications.
  • Stay informed about current industry trends and market dynamics to inform the development of new products.
  • Develop original product concepts and present them to the executive team in a collaborative setting.
  • Analyze scientific literature on ingredients to inform formulation decisions.
  • Maintain professional and constructive relationships with vendors.
  • Work closely with Contract Manufacturers on product formulation development, providing solutions to challenges as they arise.
  • Coordinate with various departments on product launches, ensuring compliance, labeling, and marketing materials are aligned.
  • Review technical documentation to confirm that ingredients and formulations meet required standards.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, guiding them from initiation through to launch.
  • Evaluate marketing materials for accuracy and effective messaging.
  • Conduct market analysis and Competitive Analysis to recommend pricing strategies for new products.
  • Maintain an electronic record of the status of all concepts and development projects.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Manager.

Required Skills:

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, correspondence, and memos, and to write clearly.
  • Proficient in presenting information in both one-on-one and group settings.
  • Exceptional verbal communication skills, demonstrating a clear and professional phone manner.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Typing speed of at least 35 words per minute.
  • General knowledge of computers, email, and internet usage.
  • Open to collaboration and receptive to diverse perspectives.
  • Strong organizational capabilities.
  • Solid mathematical skills.
  • Motivated, determined, enthusiastic, and persistent.
  • Self-driven, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Adaptable to change and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of one year of experience in the natural products or sports nutrition industry.
  • An Associate or Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated project management skills.
