Role Description:

The Pediatric Gastroenterology Department at Duke Children's Hospital is committed to delivering outstanding care to our patients. This role involves providing triage support for pediatric patients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure a seamless patient experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage triage calls, resolving issues within your scope, and coordinating follow-up with healthcare providers.
  • Assist with medication refills, referral management, and completion of necessary documentation.
  • Coordinate care, including diagnostic testing and outpatient appointments.
  • Educate patients and families on care plans for procedures and therapies.
  • Oversee the activities of unlicensed care providers.

  • Engage in multitasking, including documentation of assessments and care plans.
  • Provide education to patients and families in line with nursing care plans.
  • Foster relationships with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program (Bachelor's or Associate's degree).
  • At least one year of relevant clinical experience.

Licensure and Certification:

  • Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing or compact RN licensure.
  • BLS certification is required.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Two years of nursing experience, including one year in pediatrics.
  • Experience in telephone triage or managed care coordination.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
