Position Overview:
The Clinical Service Nurse II role at Duke University Hospital is a full-time position that operates on a day shift schedule. We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse who is committed to our mission of Advancing Health Together.
Department Profile:
The Pediatric Gastroenterology Department at Duke Children's Hospital is dedicated to delivering exceptional care to each patient, ensuring a superior patient experience. This role will involve providing triage support for our pediatric patients in collaboration with a dynamic team of healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage triage calls and resolve issues within your scope of practice.
- Gather pertinent information and coordinate follow-up with healthcare providers to develop and communicate care plans to patients.
- Document communications in the electronic health record and assist in managing patient messages.
- Support medication refills, referral management, and completion of necessary forms.
- Facilitate care coordination, including scheduling diagnostic tests and outpatient appointments.
- Educate patients and families regarding their care plans, therapies, and equipment.
- Delegate tasks and oversee the activities of unlicensed care providers.

- Engage in multitasking, including documenting assessments, planning care, and evaluating patient status.
- Build relationships with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited Bachelor's Degree in Nursing or an Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma program.
- A minimum of twelve months of relevant clinical experience is required.
Licensure and Certification:
- Current registration with the North Carolina State Board of Nursing as a registered professional nurse or current compact RN licensure to practice in North Carolina is required.
- BLS Certification is mandatory.
Desired Qualifications:
- Two years of nursing experience, including one year in pediatrics.
- Experience in telephone triage or managed care coordination.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in software navigation.
