LEAD CYBERSECURITY ANALYST

Starting Salary: $116,640.00

As a Lead Cybersecurity Analyst, you will operate at an advanced level, providing essential support in the management of IT security services throughout the City's enterprise network. Your role will encompass security evaluation, incident management, resilience planning, threat assessment, identity and access oversight, governance, risk management, and compliance, along with additional responsibilities as necessary.

This position is part of the City's Analyst Information Technology Job Family, where you will collaborate with stakeholders to identify and articulate needs, document requirements, conduct thorough analyses, and deliver fact-based solutions and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and utilize intrusion detection systems and security tools to identify suspicious activities and security weaknesses across the network.
  • Conduct thorough analyses of security breaches, alerts, and reports, serving as a liaison for all identified vulnerabilities.
  • Perform comprehensive security risk assessments, audits, and tests on internal systems.
  • Manage and analyze threat intelligence data effectively.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with regulations, internal policies, and security standards.
  • Collaborate with management and departmental leaders to align business operations with IT security practices.
  • Document and manage the City's identity and access management capabilities.
  • Develop and coordinate enterprise-wide security training and outreach initiatives.
  • Lead Information Security projects, including application development and technology upgrades.
  • Monitor and report on compliance with security requirements across the enterprise.
  • Engage with technology partners and IT management to address and mitigate security risks.
  • Stay informed on the latest security technologies, best practices, and regulatory changes.
  • Prepare technical and status reports for management review.
  • Act as a liaison with departmental IT personnel to ensure adherence to security processes.
  • Assist in the development and testing of continuity of operations plans.
  • Support governance, risk, and compliance initiatives.
  • Manage vendor and contract analysis related to security.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of security policies and procedures.
  • Perform business analysis, including requirements gathering and gap analysis.
  • Mentor and manage team members.

Location: Chicago, IL

Days: Monday-Friday

Hours: 8:00am-4:00pm

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology/Systems, or a closely related field, plus three (3) years of experience in information security, network architecture, application development, or IT auditing/compliance, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference may be given to candidates with professional IT security, firewall, and network certifications.
