About the Role

The Veterans Affairs Director is responsible for overseeing the activities of the Veterans Affairs Office. This includes advising and providing technical assistance to applicants throughout the benefits process. The Director works closely with federal, state, and local agencies to ensure accurate claim decisions and performs research to prepare documentation for updates and possible appeals. Field visits and annual training are required to maintain accreditation in accordance with state and national requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical assistance and guidance to applicants throughout the benefits process

  • Perform research and prepare documentation for updates and possible appeals
  • Conduct field visits to ensure compliance with state and national requirements
  • Maintain accreditation through annual training
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Knowledge of relevant state and local laws and regulations, veterans benefits, and services
  • Understanding of challenges and issues faced by veterans
  • Effective management and communication skills
  • Good computer skills and customer service skills
  • A High School Diploma or GED and two years of experience in a similar position
