Physician, Primary Care Section Chief

This position is an exciting opportunity to join the Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration team as a Primary Care Physician. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and leading our primary care section.
Responsibilities- Plan, organize, and develop comprehensive patient management and clinical support within the clinic.
- Provide technical counsel and leadership guidance to section staff to meet the care and treatment needs of patients.
- Maintain records of meetings, including reports of conclusions, data recommendations, responsible person, actions taken, and evaluation of effectiveness.
- Develop policies and procedures to ensure effective management, ethics, safety, communication, and quality within the section and between primary care and other services.
- Review privilege templates for each service and make recommendations for modifications.
- Provide a full range of services, including assessment and treatment, using the most appropriate techniques to provide quality care in their subspecialty.
- Perform evaluations, diagnosis, and treatment of patients.
- Provide therapeutic interventions in units/programs and has clinical privileges to practice, including diagnostic assessment, medication evaluation, and management.
- Serve as a consultant to other medical center staff and trainees and assist in implementation of treatment plans.
- Complete timely clinical charting and documentation required by the Medical Center or healthcare system.
- Plan and oversee personal research programs to provide information regarding program planning and relevant treatment approaches.

- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Residency training approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
