Position Overview

MRI Technologies, a woman-owned firm specializing in Technology and Engineering Services, is seeking a Systems Engineer - Gateway HALO FCS to support the JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center.

This role focuses on the development of habitation systems and hardware for the Gateway vehicle and the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) module. HALO represents the inaugural pressurized module for NASA's Gateway, which will orbit the moon, serving as a temporary habitat and workspace for astronauts. We are committed to our mission and are looking for talented individuals to tackle the challenges of deep space exploration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct, evaluate, and present architectural trade studies and analyses that will shape the overall design and functionality.
  • Decompose requirements and formulate specifications for Level 3 (Habitation and Logistics module).
  • Create verification and validation plans and statements.
  • Develop interface control documents.
  • Review and provide feedback on program documentation.
  • Assist in trade studies or assessments related to crew equipment, including stowage containers and inventory management.
  • Present findings to Gateway Program management and senior engineering staff.
  • Collaborate with other Gateway system management teams, including power, environmental control, and life support.
  • Engage with other programs such as Orion and the Human Lander System.
  • Work collaboratively in a team setting and report progress and challenges to the team lead.
  • Support various Advanced Exploration System (AES) Logistics Reduction (LR) projects, which may include advanced clothing technologies and autonomous inventory management.
  • Perform additional duties as necessary.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in developing space systems requirements documents, including functional requirements and verification criteria.
  • Knowledge of design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space systems, particularly in habitation.
  • Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware sector, including mechanical and electrical system design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for documentation and presentations.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and assess project needs effectively.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Johnson Space Center (JSC) operations and protocols.
  • Experience with spacecraft habitation systems.
  • Knowledge of model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience with Systems Engineering methodologies and practices.

Note: Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency may be required for this position. Candidates must be able to complete a U.S. government background investigation.
