Are you enthusiastic about advancing human space exploration and contributing to groundbreaking projects? MRI Technologies, a woman-owned leader in Engineering Services, is seeking a Systems Engineer - Gateway HALO FCS to support the JETS II Contract at NASA Johnson Space Center.
This role focuses on the development of habitation systems and hardware for the Gateway vehicle and the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) module. HALO will serve as the inaugural pressurized module for NASA's Gateway, designed to orbit the moon and provide essential support for astronauts.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct and present architectural trade studies and analyses that impact overall design and performance.
- Decompose requirements and establish specifications for Level 3 (Habitation and Logistics module).
- Create verification and validation plans and statements.
- Develop interface control documents.
- Review and provide feedback on program documentation.
- Support assessments on crew equipment, including stowage containers and inventory management.
- Present findings to Gateway Program management and chief engineers.
- Collaborate with other Gateway system management teams, including power and life support.
- Coordinate with related programs such as Orion and the Human Lander System.
- Work collaboratively in a team environment and report progress to the team lead.
- May assist with various Advanced Exploration System (AES) Logistics Reduction projects.
- Perform additional duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution with 2-5 years of relevant experience.
- Experience in developing space systems requirements documents, including functional requirements and verification criteria.
- Familiarity with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space systems.
- Basic understanding of concepts and practices in the space hardware domain.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Johnson Space Center (JSC) processes and organizations.
- Experience with spacecraft habitation systems.
- Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
- Understanding of Systems Engineering processes and methodologies.
Additional Information:
Proof of U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency may be required. Candidates must be able to pass a U.S. government background investigation.
