Job Summary:

Astrion, Inc. is seeking a qualified Systems Engineer - Gateway HALO FCS to contribute to the Space Division. This role is pivotal in supporting the development of advanced habitation systems.

Key Details:

Location: Houston, TX

Employment Type: Full-Time

Travel Requirements: Not applicable

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution with 2 to 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficiency in developing requirements documents for space systems, including functional specifications and verification criteria.
  • Experience in the design, assembly, testing, and operation of space systems, particularly in habitation.
  • Familiarity with fundamental concepts and practices in space hardware, including mechanical and electrical design, engineering documentation, material selection, and software tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective presentation in meetings.
  • Ability to work autonomously, prioritize tasks, and evaluate project requirements.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Johnson Space Center (JSC) operations and protocols.
  • Experience with spacecraft habitation systems.
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Understanding of Systems Engineering methodologies and practices.

Responsibilities:

The Systems Engineer will focus on the development of habitation systems and hardware for the Gateway vehicle and the Habitation and Logistics Outpost (HALO) module. Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and presenting architectural trade studies and analyses to inform design decisions.
  • Decomposing requirements and formulating specifications for Level 3 (Habitation and Logistics module).
  • Creating verification and validation plans and documentation.
  • Drafting interface control documents.
  • Reviewing and providing feedback on program documentation.
  • Supporting assessments on crew equipment, including stowage solutions and inventory management.
  • Presenting findings to program management and engineering leadership.
  • Collaborating with other system management teams, including power and life support.
  • Coordinating with related programs, such as Orion and the Human Lander System.
  • Participating in a team environment, reporting progress and challenges to the team lead.
  • Contributing to various Advanced Exploration System (AES) Logistics Reduction projects as needed.
