The Gateway Flight Control Systems Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the JETS II contract.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct, assess, and present architectural trade studies and analyses that will impact the overall design and functionality.
  • Break down requirements and formulate specifications for level 3 (Habitation and Logistics module).
  • Create verification and validation strategies and statements.
  • Draft interface control documents.
  • Review and provide feedback on program documentation.
  • Assist in trade studies or evaluations on crew equipment, including stowage containers and inventory management.
  • Deliver presentations to Gateway Program management and engineering leadership.
  • Collaborate with other gateway system management teams, including power, environmental control, life support, and crew health.
  • Engage with other programs such as Orion and the Human Lander System.
  • Work collaboratively in a team setting and report to the team lead regarding progress and challenges.
  • May contribute to various Advanced Exploration System (AES) Logistics Reduction (LR) projects, including advanced clothing technologies and autonomous inventory management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

This position is available at multiple levels, and candidates will be considered based on their experience and qualifications.
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited institution is required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the field or a related area.
  • Experience in developing space systems requirements documents, including functional requirements and verification criteria.
  • Familiarity with the design, assembly, verification, testing, and operation of space systems, particularly in Habitation.
  • Basic understanding of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the space hardware domain, such as mechanical and electrical system design, engineering drawings, material selection, and software design.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Knowledge of Johnson Space Center (JSC) organizations, processes, and procedures.
  • Experience with spacecraft habitation systems.
  • Familiarity with model-based systems engineering (MBSE).
  • Experience with systems engineering methodologies and techniques.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • This position is primarily onsite.
  • Offers a 9/80 work schedule with every other Friday off.
  • Some travel may be required.
BACKGROUND CHECKS:

All employees must successfully complete a national agency check, and certain positions may require additional clearance and extensive background verification.

DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING:

All employees must pass a pre-employment drug screening; some contracts may require participation in periodic random drug and alcohol testing.
