Key Responsibilities:

Shop Leadership:

  • Oversee the daily operations of the trailer and fabrication workshop, ensuring seamless workflow and effective resource management.
  • Lead a team of technicians and support personnel, offering guidance, training, and constructive feedback to optimize productivity and quality.
  • Formulate and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance shop processes and overall efficiency.
  • Ensure a safe and orderly work environment, complying with all applicable safety regulations.

Project Coordination:

  • Manage and prioritize work orders, ensuring timely execution of repairs, modifications, and custom fabrication tasks.
  • Engage with customers, suppliers, and internal teams to clarify project specifications, provide accurate estimates, and guarantee customer satisfaction.
  • Track project progress, monitor key performance indicators, and report shop performance metrics to management.

Quality Control:

  • Establish and uphold stringent quality assurance standards to ensure all repairs and fabrications align with industry benchmarks and client expectations.
  • Conduct comprehensive inspections of completed work, promptly addressing any discrepancies or concerns.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine shop processes to boost quality, minimize waste, and enhance resource efficiency.

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee inventory levels of essential parts, tools, and supplies, ensuring availability for shop operations.
  • Build relationships with suppliers, negotiate pricing, and monitor delivery schedules for timely material procurement.
  • Implement inventory tracking systems to manage usage, reduce waste, and control expenses.

Client Relations:

  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving any issues that arise.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders to strengthen business partnerships and encourage repeat business.
  • Maintain clear communication regarding ongoing, completed, and upcoming repairs with both staff and customers.
  • Collaborate with dispatch for the pickup and delivery of customer equipment.
Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years of experience managing a fleet maintenance or trailer and fabrication shop, ideally within the trucking or automotive sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of trailer repair, modification, and fabrication processes, including welding, metalworking, electrical systems, and hydraulics.
  • Strong leadership and team management capabilities, with a talent for motivating and inspiring a diverse group of technicians.
  • Demonstrated success in managing projects, meeting deadlines, and delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficient in shop management software, inventory systems, and basic computer applications.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining relationships with clients, suppliers, and team members.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • Thorough understanding of DOT regulations and company policies.
  • Willingness to perform additional duties as required.
