Nutritionist II Job Description

The Nutritionist II will play a critical role in assessing the nutritional and health risks of clients and prescribing food packages that cater to their needs. This position requires a strong understanding of maternal and child health nutrition, as well as the ability to provide individual and group education on healthy eating habits.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess anthropometric data, medical history, and lab values to determine nutritional risk codes for clients.
  • Develop high-risk care plans and follow-up care in CARES, taking into account clients' nutritional needs, food preferences, and cultural background.
  • Prescribe food packages that meet clients' nutritional requirements and provide individual and group education on healthy eating habits.
  • Conduct breastfeeding activities, participate in breastfeeding promotion, and act as a breastfeeding coordinator as needed.
  • Ensure effective operation and WIC caseload management in the WIC clinic, maintaining established show rates and supervising day-to-day clinical operations to ensure compliance with State and Federal requirements.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Public Health Nutrition, Nutrition Science, Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
  • 1 year of experience and/or completed internship in maternal and child health nutrition, preferably in the area of maternal and child health.
  • Ability to perform responsibilities of a WIC nutritionist without routine supervision.
  • Licensed in the District of Columbia or licensed in another state with proof of application for District of Columbia licensure.
  • Registered Dietitian.
