Your Role:

As a Clinical Nutrition Specialist, you will be instrumental in conducting thorough assessments to develop personalized dietary plans. Your expertise will ensure that patients receive the necessary nutrition therapy aligned with their medical requirements and personal goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform comprehensive evaluations to determine dietary needs and establish nutrition guidelines.
  • Create and execute individualized nutrition therapy plans based on patients' medical conditions and objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with the Food Service team to ensure adherence to prescribed diets.
  • Engage in clinical rounds and contribute to departmental meetings, sharing vital information with relevant personnel.
  • Present at least one professional presentation annually to enhance knowledge sharing among peers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Food & Nutrition Science from an accredited institution, along with completion of a recognized dietetic internship.
  • Master's degree in a related field is required if obtained after a specified date.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive clinical nutrition experience or 3-4 years with a specialty certification.
  • Preferred certifications include Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) or Certified Nutrition Support Dietitian (CNSD).
  • Must hold a valid license in the District of Columbia or be eligible for licensure.

As a Clinical Nutrition Specialist, you will also be responsible for documenting nutrition assessments and treatment plans in patient records, consulting with healthcare professionals regarding nutritional strategies, and participating in quality improvement projects related to nutrition.
