Weingart Center, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the homeless population in the Downtown Los Angeles area, is seeking a Housing Navigator.
Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the Housing Navigator (HN) plays a crucial role in delivering temporary housing solutions to individuals facing homelessness.
The HN is tasked with identifying interim housing options for clients enrolled in Weingart Center's Programs and Services Department. Collaborating closely with Case Managers and other service providers, the HN assists in the housing screening process for participants.
The responsibilities include:
- Locating suitable housing alternatives.
- Building partnerships with landlords and property management entities.
- Facilitating the application process alongside Case Managers and participants.
- Supporting Case Managers in housing selection, budgeting, and connecting clients with necessary community services.
Weingart Center's Interim Housing Program offers a safe and secure environment, providing shelter, meals, and comprehensive case management services for adults experiencing homelessness.
Our various locations throughout Los Angeles are designed with a focus on low barriers, trauma-informed care, and harm reduction strategies.
What We Seek:
- Empathy and exceptional communication and listening skills.
- Strong knowledge of low-income housing resources and social services.
- Proven advocacy skills for low-income and/or homeless individuals.
- A Bachelor's degree in social services or two years of relevant experience.
- Experience in delivering social services to homeless or low-income populations.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
- A valid California Driver License and reliable transportation.
- Bilingual fluency in English/Spanish is a plus.
Compensation: Starting at $21.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
