Job Title: Housing Services Specialist

Join the Housing Authority of the County of San Bernardino as a Housing Services Specialist and contribute to providing affordable housing solutions to the community.

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to assist in the administration of our housing programs. As a Housing Services Specialist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of duties related to the occupancy and eligibility of housing services programs, including interviewing applicants, verifying information, and preparing documents.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Eligibility Determination: Determine the eligibility of program participants, including eligibility for continuing participation, and interview housing applicants to gather information.
  2. Document Preparation: Prepare and review leases and documentation involved in the eligibility and rental process, including notices to participants and property owners.
  3. Case Management: Conduct interim and bi-annual re-evaluations, verify changes in household composition or income, and recalculate rent as required.
  4. Communication: Prepare correspondence to various agencies, landlords, and businesses to verify applicant data, and provide information to the public and program participants.
  5. File Maintenance: Develop and maintain files, records, and indices pertaining to applicant, participant, and property owner information.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent; Associates preferred.
  • Equivalent of three (3) years directly related experience preferably in a housing organization or social service agency.
  • Bilingual preferred.
