About the Role

Mayo Civic Center is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Venue Manager to lead our venue operations team. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our facility, providing exceptional customer service, and driving revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain active communication with clients and stakeholders to ensure compliance with management agreements and contracts.
  • Develop and implement strategies to promote venue utilization and maximize revenue.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with various stakeholders, including tenants, employees, and the public.
  • Function as the primary point of contact for live entertainment events, negotiating contracts and agreements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Vice President of Sales to promote and contract non-live entertainment events.
  • Coordinate, implement, and administer specific plans and programs prescribed by corporate directives.
  • Develop and implement facility goals in accordance with management contracts and corporate policy.
  • Prepare and maintain necessary reports and records for clients and corporate.
  • Plan, organize, coordinate, and direct all activities and personnel engaged in maintaining and operating the facility.
  • Work with the management team to develop the annual operating calendar and projections for attendance and revenue.
  • Direct, supervise, and ensure effective development of the annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Provide for control of day-to-day operations and conduct post-event operational and financial reviews.
  • Review and approve agreements with suppliers, promoters, and tenants.
  • Ensure timely and effective response to directives and requests from internal and external organizations.
  • Assure administration of personnel and operations in compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Evaluate facility practices and recommend improvements for efficiency and safety.
  • Responsible for recruiting, training, supervising, and evaluating staff.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in business or public administration.
  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience in a senior management position.
  • Experience in labor relations and union contracts is preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with various interest groups.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of successful management of entertainment or convention facilities.
  • Ability to anticipate problems and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong orientation towards hospitality and customer service.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and relevant laws.
  • Effective supervisory skills and ability to deal with human resource issues.
  • Knowledge of contract negotiations and event planning.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
