Position Overview

This is a remote opportunity available to candidates located in select states.

The Business Credit Officer is responsible for the assessment, underwriting, and decision-making of a diverse array of business loan applications within the Credit Administration division of the organization.

This role involves reviewing loan submissions, including those from unconventional business types, in alignment with established credit guidelines and protocols. The officer will determine and assign appropriate credit grades based on the evaluation of applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Underwriting: Conduct thorough evaluations of various business loan requests, including those from nontraditional entities such as faith-based organizations, nonprofit entities, and startups. Structure credit workouts, including downgrades and restructuring of troubled debts. Assess exceptions related to automated clearing house limits.
  • Business Support: Provide assistance to field lending representatives through a dedicated support line, addressing inquiries regarding application statuses, loan structuring, credit policies, and other aspects of small business financing. Ensure timely follow-up on pending applications to facilitate prompt resolutions. Participate in special projects as needed.
  • Loan Proficiency: Stay informed about updates in banking credit policies, industry trends, and underwriting practices. Underwrite small business loans in compliance with all relevant regulations and policies. Recognize loan requests that fall under special programs and respond accordingly.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 4 years of experience in Business and Commercial Underwriting, including credit approval authority.
  • OR
  • High School Diploma or GED with at least 8 years of experience in Business and Commercial Underwriting, including credit approval authority.

Additional Requirements:

  • Proven experience with Business and Commercial loans is essential.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and finance principles is required.
  • Familiarity with current banking regulations, loan documentation, and institutional policies is necessary.
  • Experience in credit approval authority is a must.
