Position Title: Program Assistant

Overview:
The Program Assistant will play a vital role in supporting the implementation of the Read Aloud Mentoring Program. This position involves working closely with the Program Coordinator to facilitate a positive reading experience for elementary school students. The Program Assistant will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth operation of the program and will assist in managing logistics for both in-person and virtual sessions.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Collaborate with the Program Coordinator to ensure the effective initiation and execution of the program.
2. Maintain regular communication with the Program Coordinator and relevant stakeholders.
3. Provide technical and logistical support for virtual reading sessions, ensuring students are effectively guided to and from their sessions.
4. Notify students, educators, and volunteers of any changes to the schedule or cancellations.
5. Monitor reading sessions to guarantee a seamless experience for all participants.
6. Uphold hygiene and safety standards within the school environment, ensuring that spaces are kept tidy and organized.
7. Assist in the planning and execution of year-end celebrations, adapting to virtual formats as necessary.
8. Attend mandatory training sessions and meetings to enhance program effectiveness.
9. Serve as a substitute for the Program Coordinator when required.
10. Accurately submit timesheets and participate in performance evaluations.

Qualifications:
- A strong commitment to the mission of Read to a Child and its growth.
- Experience working with young children and a passion for children's literature.
- Excellent communication skills, both in-person and through virtual platforms.
- A dedication to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion within the organization.
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Proficiency in using video conferencing tools and email communication.

Physical Requirements:
This position requires active engagement within a school setting, which includes moving throughout the building and assisting students during reading sessions. The role may involve navigating stairs and managing program materials effectively.
