Job Overview

Position: Surgical Technician

Location: Vighter LLC

Reporting To: Project Manager

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the operating room is prepared and organized prior to surgical procedures.
  • Disinfect and clean surgical instruments and equipment post-surgery.
  • Prepare instruments and equipment for sterilization in accordance with established protocols.
  • Maintain sterility and organization of all surgical tools.
  • Ensure all equipment is kept clean and operational.
  • Manage inventory and order necessary supplies for the Operating Room.
  • Prepare patients for surgery by cleansing and disinfecting the surgical area.
  • Set up required equipment and instruments before procedures.
  • Assist in transporting patients to the Operating Room.
  • Attend to patient needs during their time in the Operating Room.
  • Support the surgeon during procedures as needed.
  • Assist nursing staff in ensuring patient safety during procedures by aiding with restraints and following protocols.
  • Handle specimens obtained for testing in accordance with laboratory procedures.
  • Collaborate closely with the surgical team, including doctors, nurses, and laboratory personnel.
  • Clean and disinfect the Operating Room after each surgical procedure.
  • Report any malfunctioning equipment or instruments for repair or replacement.
  • Assist with patient discharge as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a diploma or certification program focused on Operating Room procedures or Surgical Technology.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) is required prior to commencing work.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must be a United States Citizen.
  • No felony convictions.
  • Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer and utilize Microsoft applications for efficient Electronic Medical Record management.

Experience:

  • At least one year of full-time experience as an Operating Room Technician within the last two years.
  • Experience must be in a Surgical Center or Hospital Operating Room; experience in a physician's office is not considered applicable.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods, exceeding 8 hours daily.
  • Willingness to work overtime as necessary.
  • Capability to use elevators or navigate stairs.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and carry items for short distances.
  • Proficient in manual dexterity, including grasping, bending, and reaching.
  • Ability to read and interpret both handwritten and printed materials.
  • Effective communication skills, including the ability to hear and speak.
  • Ability to perform duties in various environments.
  • Must pass a criminal background check.
  • Must undergo urine drug screening.
