Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Surgical Services Specialist to join our team at St. Mark's Hospital. As a key member of our operating room team, you will be responsible for providing procedural expertise, coordinating care, and ensuring the operating room is adequately prepared for surgical procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general nursing duties and be competent in all OR procedures as verified by specific competencies.
  • Demonstrate the ability to facilitate smooth and efficient room turnover and patient flow.
  • Complete all paperwork and computer charting to ensure accurate and timely charting and patient charges occur.
  • Rely on previous experience to anticipate and meet the needs of the surgeon.
  • Draft and update surgeon preference lists.
  • Act as a liaison for Sterile Processing regarding issues in specialty instruments and supplies.
  • Meet with vendors and act as the primary liaison for the surgeons regarding new equipment, supplies, and products.
  • Participate in new product evaluations and serve as a clinical and education resource for the staff regarding new products and surgeon preferences.
  • Follow patient and employee safety/security policies and protocols, including hand hygiene, use of universal precautions, use of personal protective equipment, and adherence to isolation procedures.
  • Act in a composed and professional manner, especially under pressure.
Requirements
  • Current State of Utah Registered Nurse License or compact state RN license.
  • American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Desire to specialize in one of the surgical areas at Saint Marks.
  • Two or more years of OR experience as a registered nurse required.
