Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Substance Abuse Counselor to become an integral part of our team at Arise Health Clinic. In this role, you will be essential in helping individuals tackle their substance abuse issues and achieve sustainable recovery. Your knowledge and guidance will be vital in supporting patients as they navigate the complexities of addiction.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform comprehensive patient evaluations to assess the severity of substance abuse
  • Design personalized treatment plans tailored to individual needs
  • Facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions to address the underlying causes of addiction
  • Track patient progress and modify treatment plans as necessary
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care
  • Maintain precise and confidential medical records in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Stay informed about the latest research and best practices in substance abuse treatment
  • Provide education and support to families of patients to aid in understanding and recovery

The counselor is responsible for documenting client interactions using ICAnotes as per the program's requirements.

Essential Skills:
  • Thorough understanding of social work principles and practices
  • Expertise in coding systems such as ICD-10 for accurate documentation
  • Knowledge of behavioral health theories and interventions
  • Ability to conduct detailed patient assessments and create appropriate treatment plans
  • Experience with individual and group counseling methodologies
  • Familiarity with medical records management and confidentiality standards
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and a commitment to privacy
  • Proficient in various psychotherapy techniques for effective treatment
  • Understanding of applied behavior analysis for behavior modification
Job Duties:

Conduct individual counseling sessions

Facilitate group therapy

Document treatment plans, discharge summaries, interpretive summaries, biopsychosocial assessments, and progress notes in EHR

Qualifications:

Preferred CAC-AD or CSC-AD status

Alcohol and Drug Counselor Trainee candidates are also encouraged to apply

Education:

A Bachelor's Degree is preferred

Candidates with an AA Degree may also apply

Required Competencies:

  • Deliver effective substance abuse treatment
  • Maintain accurate case documentation and tracking
  • Coordinate with primary care providers and referral agencies
  • Provide outreach and linkage to relevant departments and agencies as needed
Summary of Responsibilities:

Demonstrate the ability to effectively engage clients facing substance abuse issues

Responsible for conducting intakes, assessments, treatment planning, progress note documentation, and discharge planning

Complete progress notes with signatures and accurate time tracking

Experience:

Preferably 2 years of experience as a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor
