Job Overview and Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Deputy Controller for Public Affairs, the Senior Manager of Staff Services will take on a leadership role, ensuring the efficient functioning of the Public Affairs Office. This position involves managing daily operations, assigning tasks, and ensuring the quality and accuracy of outputs. The individual will also oversee internal communication strategies, including written, video, and digital formats, while aiding in the development and clarification of departmental communication policies. Key responsibilities include:
- Directing the communication initiatives of the State Controller's Office in collaboration with the Deputy Controller for Public Affairs;
- Creating, integrating, and executing communication strategies to boost awareness and comprehension of the State Controller's responsibilities and services;
- Identifying public policies affecting the State Controller's Office and coordinating appropriate responses to safeguard its authority;
- Working with senior executives to formulate internal communications and address inquiries from internal stakeholders;
- Assisting in the creation and execution of outreach and educational programs and materials;
- Establishing and managing an employee recognition initiative;
- Facilitating regular meetings with the Controller and staff;
- Overseeing the communications calendar;
- Providing supervision to team members tasked with researching and drafting internal communications that represent the State Controller's position;
- Supporting the Controller at significant public events or representing the Controller when necessary;
- Traveling to various locations as required for assigned duties.
