Position Overview

The Staff Services Manager III, under the guidance of the Deputy Controller for Public Affairs, will serve in a leadership role, overseeing the daily functions of the Public Affairs Office. This position entails managing work assignments and ensuring consistency and accuracy in operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Communication Initiatives: Direct the communication strategies of the State Controller's Office in collaboration with the Deputy Controller for Public Affairs.
  • Enhance Public Awareness: Design and execute communication activities aimed at improving public understanding of the State Controller's responsibilities and services.
  • Policy Coordination: Identify and address public policies affecting the State Controller's Office, ensuring appropriate responses to any challenges to its authority.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with senior executives to develop internal communication strategies and address inquiries from staff.
  • Outreach Development: Assist in creating and implementing educational programs and materials.
  • Employee Recognition: Establish and manage an employee recognition program to acknowledge outstanding contributions.
  • Meeting Coordination: Organize regular meetings with the Controller and staff to facilitate communication and collaboration.
  • Communications Management: Oversee the communications calendar to ensure timely and effective dissemination of information.
  • Supervision: Provide guidance to subordinate staff responsible for crafting internal communications that reflect the State Controller's position.
  • Event Support: Represent the Controller at significant public events or provide support as needed.
  • Travel Requirements: Travel to various locations as necessary to fulfill job responsibilities.
