Job Summary

The Department of Social Services is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Information Officer I to join our Public Affairs and Outreach Programs team. As an Information Officer I, you will play a critical role in coordinating, organizing, and drafting special publications for internal and external dissemination. You will also create, develop, write, and design content for our internal newsletter to engage and strengthen internal efforts to uplift employees and support the Department in building diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and organize special publications for internal and external dissemination
  • Create, develop, write, and design content for the internal newsletter
  • Conduct research and assist in the development of responses to inquiries from the media, public, and other stakeholders
  • Communicate orally and in writing with program staff, members of the media, and the general public regarding Department programs and activities
  • Help prepare detailed and accurate news releases, Public Records Act responses, communication plans, web copy, social media posts, and other materials to effectively communicate information about the Department

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong research and analytical skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Knowledge of public affairs and outreach programs
Working Conditions

This position has been designated as eligible for telework. The position may require in-person attendance when requested.
