Job Overview

Position Summary:
Tidal Basin is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Intake Specialist within the ReOregon initiative. This position involves collaborating with community stakeholders and individuals affected by wildfires to assist them in completing applications for the ReOregon program. The Intake Specialist acts as the main liaison between applicants and the program, ensuring exceptional customer service while helping clients coordinate essential services and resources to meet their housing or repair needs.

The Intake Specialist will guide ReOregon applicants in submitting comprehensive applications to facilitate eligibility verification. This includes gathering information on household composition, income, home ownership, and assistance from other federal programs, as well as insurance details, to identify any potential duplication of benefits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate the intake center, providing support to fire-affected individuals during standard business hours.
  • Conduct interviews with applicants to gather initial information necessary for processing housing program applications.
  • Organize and lead meetings with homeowners and landlords to collect information for initial application processing.
  • Clarify and explain housing program policies, regulations, and documentation to homeowners and landlords.
  • Collect and verify applicant information accurately.
  • Build and maintain professional relationships with colleagues, homeowners, landlords, tenants, and external organizations to ensure effective customer service and problem resolution.
  • Manage electronic and physical correspondence, documents, and forms efficiently.
  • Inform applicants, homeowners, and landlords about the regulations, policies, and procedures of ReOregon's housing programs in accordance with HUD guidelines.
  • Input homeowner, landlord, and tenant data into the appropriate systems.
  • Establish and maintain a comprehensive filing system for all relevant documentation.
  • Conduct mobile intake sessions as required for applicants unable to visit the office.
  • Respond to inquiries via phone, email, and in-person regarding program requirements and application statuses.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional capacity to convey information clearly to diverse audiences both in person and over the phone.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with a diverse range of applicants.
  • Team-oriented with experience in managing multiple tasks and prioritizing effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel) and adaptable to new software and database systems.
  • Willingness to work in-person and during evening hours as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • A Bachelor's degree in social services or a related field is preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in disaster recovery, housing support services, or social services and case management is preferred.
  • Bilingual candidates, particularly in English and Spanish, are encouraged to apply.
