Position Overview

Brightpoint (formerly known as Children's Home & Aid) is dedicated to fostering an equitable environment where all children and families can flourish within robust communities. With a legacy of 140 years in the human services sector, we focus on enhancing the well-being of children by empowering families and fortifying communities through informed, collaborative, and preventative approaches.

The Home Visitor plays a vital role in delivering extensive, long-term home-visiting services through a strengths-based, family-centered approach aimed at high-risk first-time parents and families with young children, from birth to 5 years of age. This position involves evaluating the needs of infants, children, and families, assisting them in creating actionable plans to achieve developmental milestones, expanding their support networks, providing parenting guidance, and facilitating group sessions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct regular home visits with families to perform assessments, set goals, and deliver services tailored to the unique strengths and needs of each child and family.
  • Observe parent-child interactions, assess communication effectiveness and empathetic responses, and engage parents in reflective discussions about their evolving relationships.
  • Support parents in establishing community connections that align with service objectives, including referrals to early intervention, mental health, healthcare, and other supportive services.
  • Cultivate and sustain collaborative relationships with essential community service providers.

Candidate Qualifications:

  • An Associate's Degree in Social Work, Child Development, or a related field is required; a Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Child Development, or a closely related field is preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience working with families who have children under the age of 5 is essential.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
  • Must be able to conduct in-person family visits and meetings, possessing a valid driver's license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle.

Job Details:

  • Compensation: Starting at $19 per hour; offers will be based on experience, with additional compensation for bilingual candidates.
  • Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance; over three weeks of paid time off in the first year, including the week between Christmas and New Year's Day (PTO increases with tenure); 11 paid holidays, supplemental insurance options, and a 401(k) plan with matching contributions.
  • Location: Hybrid model (remote/in-office); the Home Visitor provides in-home services to families across designated counties, with potential opportunities for remote work between visits.
  • Schedule: Full-time, hourly position; standard business hours with some flexibility required for evening family visits and special projects.
  • Student Loan Forgiveness: Brightpoint is an approved agency for Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF).

Commitment to Diversity:

We are committed to building diverse and inclusive teams of passionate advocates for youth and families. By placing families at the center of our decision-making, we aim to strengthen the communities in which we work, play, and live.

We encourage individuals who are dedicated to meaningful work and who wish to raise their unique voices to address systemic inequalities affecting children and families to consider this opportunity.
