Summary:
The Project Accountant plays a vital role in managing all facets of project financials, encompassing month-end closures, revenue and cost accruals, expense assessments, profitability evaluations, resource allocation, and effectively conveying project updates to the finance analyst of the business line.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition for projects in alignment with company guidelines, including necessary accruals.
- Lead month-end closing processes while serving as a resource for team members in project accounting during knowledge-sharing sessions.
- Conduct monthly reconciliations of accounts.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of current corporate allocations and assist operations with related inquiries.
- Possess an overall awareness of projects within the assigned area.
- Execute high-level project analyses to identify key factors affecting project performance for the current period, while communicating financial risks.
- Provide research and assistance on inquiries from operational teams.
- Act as a liaison between corporate accounts payable/accounts receivable and operational teams as necessary.
- Support external auditors by providing adequate documentation for business units.
- Collaborate with team members to identify reporting challenges from the operational side and propose potential improvements related to project accounting to management for further consideration.
- Prepare reports on operational cost data, including contract labor accruals, per diem expenditures, and other relevant items as they arise.
- Assist in documenting processes while training new team members as assigned by management.
- Address inquiries regarding monthly operational results.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or equivalent experience of 5 years.
3-5 years of experience in Accounting/Project Accounting.
Proficient to expert knowledge of Excel.
