Position Overview

The StateJobsNY is seeking candidates with robust analytical and problem-solving capabilities, complemented by exceptional written and verbal communication skills. The role is designed for individuals who are eager to contribute to the financial governance of state programs and policies.

Compensation Structure:

Financial Analyst I:
Annual salary of $55,006. Requires a Bachelor's degree.

Financial Analyst II:
Annual salary of $60,231. Requires a Master's degree; OR, a Bachelor's degree with one year of relevant experience.

Financial Analyst III:
Annual salary of $65,164. Requires a Doctoral degree; OR, a Master's degree with one year of relevant experience; OR, a Bachelor's degree with two years of relevant experience; OR, a Bachelor's degree with three years of professional experience including one year of relevant experience.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong written, visual, and verbal communication skills.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate analytical prowess and a commitment to continuous learning. Key attributes for success in this role include objectivity, flexibility, and adaptability. Please note that mandatory overtime may be required.

Responsibilities:

As a Financial Policy Analyst, your responsibilities will include:

  • Gaining comprehensive knowledge of program areas, including thorough analysis of broader trends (e.g., policy trends, budgetary and spending trends, economic implications, etc.), assessing potential impacts on program operations, and collaborating with counterparts to understand agency and program challenges.
  • Drafting recommendations and materials to support decision-making, articulating complex issues, illustrating trends and projections, and synthesizing data effectively.
  • Managing the State's Financial Plan by projecting and monitoring spending trends, identifying challenges, and collaborating with counterparts to mitigate fiscal risks.
  • Participating in the development and implementation of programs related to disaster recovery, counterterrorism, emergency preparedness, bail reform, gun violence prevention, and elections reform.
